CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE

If your measurements are close to two sizes, choose the smaller size for a tighter fit or the larger size for a looser fit.

If your body measurements result in different sizes, we recommend using your chest measurement for tops and your hip measurement for pants.

HOW TO MEASURE YOUR BODY

Chest: Place the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest/bust.

Waist: Place the measuring tape at your natural waist, the narrowest point on your torso.

Hip: Place the measuring tape around the fullest point on your hips.

Looking after your new Icebreaker couldn’t be easier –
just throw it in the washing machine (unless it’s an Outerwear jacket or Black Sheep Knitwear) and line dry. For specific advice on caring for your garment, please check its care label.

Additional Care Instructions:

Icebreaker garments are designed to be easy for you to care for. We recommend that you wash your Icebreaker garments on a normal warm or cool machine wash cycle with regular powder or liquid detergent, not wool detergent. Don’t use fabric softener or bleach. Separate lights and darks as usual. Also, do not expose any Icebreaker garment to heat and do not tumble dry. Line dry or lie flat in the shade.

NOTE: After your first 2-3 uses, we recommend that you wash the garment separately to diminish the appearance of any short fibers from the fabric.

Complete instructions for best results:
  • Wash like colors together (e.g separate lights and darks)
  • Wash prints inside out
  • Close all zippers
  • Use warm or cool machine wash on a normal cycle (avoid a hot wash, this contributes to shrinkage)
  • Use regular detergent, not wool detergent
  • Do not use bleach or fabric softener under any circumstances (your Icebreaker couldn’t be any softer)
  • Wash occasionally with denim (e.g. jeans with the zipper closed) or other coarse fabrics to remove any loose fibers.
  • Do not iron prints or labels
  • Line dry garments – do not tumble dry (except socks, see below)

For Icebreaker Coastal, Pureplus Jackets & Black Sheep Knitwear:
  • Dry clean only

For Icebreaker Socks:
  • Only socks: Tumble dry on a low heat, inside out

Ichy after one wash
Date:May 1, 2012
Shirt feels great the first time you put it on, but after one warm machine wash and line dry (as suggested by the label) the shirt became itchy and unwearable. Unexpected from merino wool at this price.

Great, but one dealbreaker
Date:April 11, 2012
I own three of these shirts and for the most part they are fantastic except for one flaw. They are lightweight, warm when it's chilly, cool when it's hot, and take days (even in hot weather) to develop odors. I wear them primarily under other shirts but occasionally on their own. The one (and for me fatal) flaw is what I call a "pull down failure". You put on the shirt and grab the back/sides to pull it down. Two of the shirts I own both had small holes torn in them, both in the first week I owned them. So I have great shirts with thumb sized holes torn in the rear/back. As I mainly wear them as undershirts, it's not a big deal, but I don't think I will be buying anymore.

Can't go wrong
Date:February 22, 2012
When I first received this shirt, the fit was off. After washing and air drying (of course), the shirt took up a bit and fit much better. It performs just as described. Being thinner, the shirt will take on odor sooner than the thicker IB products, but wash times are still few and far between.

Good in hot and cool weather

I wear this weight top all year round. Desert heat of over 100* down to freezing. Works as layers very well. No odor. I have about eight of the 150's.

Is this item suitable for wearing in >32C cities?

Details:
If anyone would kindly let me know how cooling it is both indoors and outdoors on a warm and sunny day (>32C; under the sun, >37C), and if this would be comfortable enough to sleep with at night when temperatures drop to 26C - though it feels like it's more like 20C (so assume it's 20C) Thanks!

Answer:
I wear the 150 weight as a base layer winter and summer and in my solar home without heat. Two 150's are also common for me when it's cool. When sleeping in very hot weather taking it off works best.

Answer:
I think 70-80F (so is that about 20C-25C?) is probably the upper limit. Warmer than that and I find a cotton tee shirt more comfortable than any wool.

Answer:
Thanks for your question! It's difficult to assign a temperature range to our products because it depends a lot on how a person's body temperature runs. That said, the tech t lite is the lightest top we offer and is perfect for hot temperatures. I would suggest an additional top layered over top it in the evenings though when the temperature drops too.

How do I remove wrinkles after washing?

Details:
I washed my excellent 150 shirt, but left it in the washer for several hours. It's hanging to dry (as instructed) but there are a lot of wrinkles. Any way to get to get rid of them (other than ironing...)?

Answer:
Really simple; a quick pass with the iron on steam and then wear it. Best is to rewash and put it on from the washer; it will dry remarkably fast and you won't be cold for long.

Answer:
Thanks for your question! To avoid wrinkles, the best method is to remove immediately from the washing machine and smooth the fabric out before laying flat to dry. However, you can always use an iron (on the delicate setting), or the wrinkles will usually work there way out with wear.

Use regular detergent, not wool detergent??

Details:
Way use regular detergent, I would guess that wool detergent is better to wool. Filling up on some of the oils that normally is found in Wool.

Answer:
We suggest using regular detergent rather wool detergent because wool detergent is formulated for traditional wool rather than merino wool and can actually be harmful to merino wool. Hope this information helps!
